8a2 – Save or Protect: you decide

8a2 you will be taking part in a debate about the future of the rainforest next lesson. Remember that you wll only have 2 minutes to make your argument. I’ll be looking for a biased viewpoint and your ability to answer questions!

Top Tips:

• Research your facts well
• Have facts, information, visuals and props to back up your argument
• Be creative – an interesting speech is often received well
• Be passionate
• Practice your speech!
• Research you opponents pint of view. That way you will be prepared to answer their questions

Year 8 – Destroy or Save, you decide!

Year 8 – you need to decide whether you are going to argue to protect or exploit the rainforest. Remember that the purpose of this exercise is to be very BIASED. You probably won’t be giving your own point of view.

Remember to extend your ideas – use lots of connectives. You will get a better level if you develop 1 or 2 points in depth then just give a list of short reasons.
