Welcome to the Jungle

Mr Rogers’ Year 8 classes are examining the rainforest. Your first homework is to find a rainforest facts:

This is a research challenge. Only spend 15 minutes on this activity!
1. Visit this site: http://wallwisher.com/wall/rainforest-facts
2. Spend no more than 10 minutes searching for a rainforest fact.
3. Add a sticky to the wall.
4. Try to avoid creating a sticky with a fact that is already on the wall.
5. Donʼt forget to ʻtagʼ your work with where you found the fact e.g. wikipedia,
6. Lastly add your initials to the end of the sticky. This is so I know who has done the
homework.

GCSE’s are totally changing in all subects next year. In gepography we want you to help us decide on the GCSE that will meet your needs.

All you have to do is fill in a short survey form. Be honest as the Geography department wll be using this information to affect your future!

The booklet should include everything that you have learnt about tropical rainforests. Below is the PPT file containing some examples and the mark scheme

8a2 – Save or Protect: you decide

8a2 you will be taking part in a debate about the future of the rainforest next lesson. Remember that you wll only have 2 minutes to make your argument. I’ll be looking for a biased viewpoint and your ability to answer questions!

Top Tips:

• Research your facts well
• Have facts, information, visuals and props to back up your argument
• Be creative – an interesting speech is often received well
• Be passionate
• Practice your speech!
• Research you opponents pint of view. That way you will be prepared to answer their questions
